How many special people change, how many lives we lead are strange? Where were you when Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho were playing football? Be it at Liverpool or Barcelona the pair know each other well and Suarez has seen a change in his 'new' teammate.

Once upon a time Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez were part of a scary attacking force at Liverpool that Brendan Rodgers nearly took to the Premier League title, which would have been a first for the Reds.

Only a few months later Suarez moved on to Barcelona and Coutinho continued his upward trajectory into one of the best midfielders in the world. Then the Catalan giants came calling.

In January, after months of Barca trying, the Uruguayan and Brazilian were reunited when Coutinho made a £142 million move from Anfield to the Camp Nou.

So far the 25 year old has only made seven appearances for Ernesto Valverde's La Liga leaders, with four of those coming off the bench, but talking to Barcelona's official magazine Suarez revealed the biggest change he's seen in the Brazilian, saying:

"When he's on the pitch, he transforms. It may not seem like it, but Philippe is very shy and quiet. He needs to be more confident.

"That said, I've noticed a change between the kid that arrived at Liverpool and the player he's become now. He's still shy, but you can see how much he's matured.

"I am convinced he's going to give us a lot at Barca, as a player and a person. He has a quality which sets him apart [from others]. You could see that on his debut."

Suarez also explained he asked Steven Gerrard to look after the former Inter midfielder when he left for Spain and was impressed by Coutinho's self development when Gerrard moved to the MLS, "When the opportunity came up for me to come to Barcelona, I told Gerrard to look after [Coutinho] when I left.

"But then he moved to the Galaxy, so Philippe had to take responsibility himself and he put the team on his back. It didn't surprise me to see him emerge as a player because I knew the quality he had, but I admire the responsibility he took on at such a young age."

With Barcelona so far ahead in La Liga this season the pair will finally share a league title together.
