Barcelona left it late but they secured a dramatic victory against Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou on Saturday night.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men after Diego Costa (who else?!) was dismissed for abusing match referee Jesus Gil Manzano in the 27th minute.

Jan Oblak brilliantly prevented the hosts from scoring on numerous occasions though Luis Suarez eventually broke the deadlock in the 85th minute courtesy of a stinging low strike from 25-yards out.

Lionel Messi immediately made it two with a typically superb goal.

He cut onto his trusted left-peg from the right-flank, then fooled Atletico Madrid's defence before calmly slotting past Oblak.

Barcelona move 11 points clear at the top of La Liga with just seven games left of the season.

The Catalan giants are still fighting on three fronts this season. They've pretty much wrapped up the league title, they have a Copa del Rey final date to look forward to and Ernesto Valverde's team are one of the favourites to win the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Messi now has more wins than any player in La Liga history (335) - passing Real Madrid's legendary keeper Iker Casillas.

On another personal note, Messi extended his lead in the La Liga scoring charts. He's got 33 (!!) league goals to his name.

That's 13 more goals than his nearest competition who happens to be his teammate, Luis Suarez.

Barcelona will be back in action on Tuesday when they resume their European venture.

They play Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.
