Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard has failed to make an early first impression at Los Blancos.

The ex-Chelsea superstar, 28, became Zinedine Zidane's marquee summer signing and has started in all of their pre-season tour matches.

But news recently emerged that Hazard arrived at Madrid a 'stone overweight' and has failed to find the back of the net in his first five matches.

According to ESPN, Hazard has only had one shot on target out of his four attempts on net.

The Belgian winger, who scored 21 times and assisted 17 times for Chelsea last season, has failed to set up his new Madrid teammates.

Hazard has zero assists for Madrid and has seen his side lose three times, which includes a 7-3 thrashing at the hands of rivals Atletico Madrid.

Zidane's side have won twice on pre-season tour, with the first coming on penalties against Arsenal.

And it would later be followed up with a 5-3 win over Fenerbahce in their Audi Cup third-placed playoff match.

Hazard cost Madrid an initial £88.5m and is pocketing £400,000 per week at the club.

Since he officially made the move on 1st July, the Madrid player has cost them an estimated £1.8m in wages so far.

Despite his poor form in pre-season, Cameroonian legend Samuel Eto'o made a bold claim that Hazard is "close" to Lionel Messi's level.

"Hazard has to win the Ballon d'Or," the ex-Barcelona and Inter Milan striker told Spanish newspaper Marca.

"He hasn't been valued enough but now he's at one of the best teams in the world all eyes will be on him.

"He's close to Messi's level and I hope that he plays Barcelona when he's not at 100 percent."

Madrid will play against Red Bull Salzburg and Roma next week before the end of their pre-season tour.

Will Hazard bounce back in Madrid's final two pre-season matches?
