Spain Consider Dropping David De Gea For Second Round Match

The Manchester United goalkeeper has been under pressure since his mistake against Portugal gifted Cristiano Ronaldo a goal.

The World Cup does funny things to people and that's especially true when it comes to Spain this time around and the 2010 World Cup winners could be about to drop David de Gea and make another very odd change.

Such is the wonderment of all the matches we've had at the World Cup so far that it's almost slipped our minds that on the eve of the tournament Spain sacked their manager because he was due to take over at Real Madrid after it.

That led them to appoint former Bolton Wanderers player Fernando Hierro to take over as manager whose only previous managerial experience was in charge of Segunda Division side Real Oviedo for a season.

Not exactly the ideal preparation but they have managed to qualify in first place in the group, despite their opening game 3-3 draw with Portugal- the game of the tournament by some margin.

Things should have settled down now that they know they'll face Russia in the Second Round but according to Spanish press that's not the case.

According to AS Hierro is considering replacing David de Gea with Kepa Arrizabalaga ready to take the gloves whilst Nacho could return to the starting line up in central midfield.

Hierro is worried about the amount of goals that De Gea is conceding with the Manchester United number one failing to produce his club form thus far.

He was at fault for Cristiano Ronaldo's second during the entertaining draw with Portugal when the shot from outside the area bounced off him and span back into the goal when it was a basic save.

However it still seems extremely harsh to drop him but according to the report Sergio Ramos currently doesn't have confidence in his keeper and that would be a worry.

Nacho playing in central midfield might be even more of a gamble. The full back started in place of Daniel Carvajal in the opening game and scored an absolute beauty.

Playing him in defensive midfield alongside Sergio Busquets would be a big surprise but it would make Spain more defensive.

Should Spain really be looking to change their keeper?
