Manchester United bound Alexis Sanchez has been greeted by club royalty in the shape of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Chilean is on the verge of joining United from Arsenal, as he nears a completion of his transfer. He's undergone his medical and set to obtain a work permit ahead of a huge January signing for Jose Mouirnho.

Part of the deal will see Henrik Mkhitaryan move the other way.

Amidst the deal being signed, sealed and delivered, Sanchez has uploaded a clip boarding a private jet - with fans brilliantly noticing what he was listening to - and spotted in a United shirt sporting the iconic No.7.

He's now been welcomed by Sir Alex.

While Sanchez was at Old Trafford, United's most successful manager greeted the player.

What does the the legendary Scot think of Sanchez?

Well, in 2010, Sir Alex was keeping tabs on him while plying his trade in the Serie A with Udinese.

"We have looked at Sanchez and he has impressed us, as have other players. He has had very good games and is an interesting project," he said.

He added: "We have gathered some background, as with other footballers at his level, but nothing more than this for the moment.

"We have watched some Chileans in the past. The most interesting case was that of Salas, who had a brilliant World Cup [at France '98] but he was at Lazio.

On Sunday night, first pictures of Sanchez in a United shirt surfaced.

It appears the 29-year-old was taking selfies either at Old Trafford or United's training base.

We await official confirmation of Sanchez being a United player. Not long now.
