Kasper Schmeichel heroically kept a clean sheet for Leicester City in their first match since the tragic passing of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and following the Premier League victory against Cardiff City, he gave a heartbreaking post-match interview.

The Foxes secured all three league points at Cardiff thanks to a second-half strike from Demarai Gray who celebrated in emotional fashion, revealing a tribute underneath his match shirt.

And following the away win, Schmeichel issued a poignant interview to BBC.

Claude Puel confirmed that the 31-year-old Dane was left stunned by the incident.

Now, fresh details have emerged online about his heroic actions following the tragedy.

"He stayed at the King Power Stadium until the early hours of the morning, consoling other members of staff, sharing the grief of Vichai's closest friends and associates," Rob Dorsett wrote for Sky Sports.

"He was the first to address his teammates, at the training ground on Monday, calling on them to keep delivering Vichai's vision.

"For all this, he's grown still further in the hearts of the Leicester fans."

The Sky Sports reporter also explained the close relationship that the shot-stopper and former Leicester owner Srivaddhanaprabha shared.

"Kasper was the closest of all the Leicester players to Vichai. The two men spent a lot of time together. They enjoyed each other's company," he said. "They got on.

"A few years ago, Vichai loaned Schmeichel his helicopter to get him back to a family holiday quickly, after he had to return for an advertising shoot at the club. How poignant that seems now.

"Vichai used to seek Kasper's counsel when big decisions were pending. The Dane was accused -- wrongly -- of playing a role in the decision-making process when Claudio Ranieri was controversially sacked in February 2017 just nine months after Leicester had won the title.

"But he did have huge influence over Vichai. The two men regularly chatted about performances, styles of play, even tactics."

Before Leicester's match against Cardiff today, players wore special shirts to pay tribute to Srivaddhanaprabha.

During the minute silence before kick-off, however, Schmeichel was seen in tears during the tribute.
