Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a classy farewell message to departing Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri.

Allegri, 51, will leave the Turin-based club at the end of the season and Ronaldo has hailed the Italian boss as a "great coach" and a "great man".

The Portuguese forward, who has spent just one season with Allegri, posted a picture of them together accompanied with a touching message on social media.

"Thank you Mister! We lived a single year together but it was awesome because besides being a great coach you are a great man. It's been a pleasure working with you!"

Meanwhile, Allegri thanked all his players during an emotional press conference.

"I would like to thank all the players for what they have given me. We now have a winning team that has great potential next year to compete in Italy and in the Champions League," he said.

"We evaluated the future of Juventus and obviously the club decided to take a direction next year without me but that doesn't change anything. We have grown together and it is the right moment to leave the club in the best possible way.

"Tomorrow, we have to celebrate two moments: One is the Scudetto and one is the departure of Andrea Barzagli. We have to celebrate because these last five years have been absolutely wonderful.

"Me as a coach, I've always had to analyse the performance and not the result. Nonetheless, of course, when we play football matches, it is not always possible to play well. Playing well for 30+ matches is impossible.

"We always have this winning mentality, it is a typical feature of Juventus. When we lose, it is something that I do not accept... At the end of the day, what really matters is the result. We need to win.

"Over the last five years, being a coach and a manager means to be part of the club. Including addressing all of the company issues, from the organisation, marketing, technical, ect. I have always been involved. I am close to the company and I have been proud of this.

"The important thing for me was to be involved in the discussions of the issues. It means that the coach must be involved in all of the cooperate situations and personally, I do like to be involved in this way. It is something that I have always been fond of."

Allegri won the Serie A title in each of his five seasons in charge not to mention four Coppa Italia titles.

But he failed to win the coveted Champions League with his team reaching two finals. His side were one of the favourites to go all the way this campaign following the mega-transfer of Ronaldo, though they were eliminated by Ajax in the quarter-finals.
