A visibly unhappy Cristiano Ronaldo was far from impressed that Bernardo Silva received the Player of the Tournament award in the Nations League.

The Portugal players were quick to congratulate the Manchester City ace by patting him on the back of the neck and head in overwhelming affection.

But the same can't be said for Ronaldo, who said something to the 24-year-old midfielder before giving him an annoyed look.

The exchange between the two has been making the rounds on social media and some are questioning the Juventus star's reaction.

"He doesn't even hide it anymore. LOL," one Twitter user wrote.

Someone else said: "Tears in his eyes [with laughing emojis]."

A third questioned: "How can someone like this guy?"

Ronaldo might feel like he deserves the award after his hat-trick against Switzerland fired his side into the Nations League final in the first place.

Silva played an instrumental role in Pep Guardiola's domestic treble-winning season and has carried his scintillating form over during international duty.

"I'm happy to have helped the team," the ex-Monaco man said after collecting his award.

"Of course, the most important thing was that Portugal won, but when you can add an individual award to it, then that's also good.

"I'm really happy with my performance, not just here in the Nations League, but throughout this whole season.

"I'm happy to finish a brilliant season in this way, and now I will rest and try to do even better next season."

Packie Bonner, the UEFA technical observer, said that Silva had a "positive influence on the team, both in and out of possession."

Gonçalo Guedes scored in the second half against the Netherlands as Portugal won 1-0 in the final of the inaugural Nations League on Sunday.

Following on from the match, Ronaldo said that he was thrilled at how Portugal made history by winning the first edition of the competition.

"A lot of happiness! It was excellent, I'm very happy," he admitted.

"Having won this trophy here in Portugal in front of the Portuguese people, for me this is a great honour."
