Romelu Lukaku Has Scored As Many Premier League Goals As Didier Drogba

In 30 games less, too.

Romelu Lukaku has now scored as many Premier League goals as his idol, Didier Drogba, in what is a quite crazy statistic.

Considering he's still just 25 years of age, Lukaku's goalscoring record is pretty ridiculous. Today, after bagging a brace in the must-win away game against Burnley, he is now level on 104 goals with the legendary Chelsea bagsman.

What's more, Lukaku has achieved the tally in thirty games less. Belgium's all time top goalscorer has received a lot of stick in recent times, particularly after his shocker of a miss against Spurs last week, but his knack of scoring goals should not be questioned.

Many folks on Twitter have been quick to point out that Drogba was much more a big game player, but this is more about Lukaku reaching a milestone that is very personal to him.

The Anderlecht youth product grew up watching Drogba do bits for Chelsea and spoke of the close bond they have a couple of years back.

"He is my idol and he knows it, but I am Romelu Lukaku and I am proud of my family name, and I want to make my own story," Lukaku was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

"I respect Didier a lot, but I think there are still differences in our style of play, and I am a young player. I still speak to Drogba. He gives me tips all the time. We have had a really special relationship since day one.

"When the team needed him the most, he always delivered, so that is what I aim for and hopefully one day I can say I was that type of player."

Congratulations, Romelu.
