Romania Under 21 goalkeeper Ionut Radu tearfully held up a shirt with his last sister's face after captaining his side to a 4-2 win that knocked England out of the Under 21 European Championship.

In 2006, when Radu was just nine years of age, his 14-year old sister passed away.

When he was young, Radu promised to take her to all the "big stadiums" in the world and the Genoa shot-stopper ensures that his late sibling is always by his side in the form of a t-shirt that he takes with him to every game.

It has an image of his sister, along with the message, "I owe you everything, I love you EMA".

And after the thrilling victory over Aidy Boothroyd's England, Radu was overcome with emotion as he held it aloft to to the Romania faithful in Cesena.

Having heard about his loss at such a young age, you can't help but root for the 22-year old.

In the World Cup, Croatia goalkeeping hero Danijel Subasic wore a t-shirt dedicated to his fallen friend, Hrvoje Custic, during celebrations.

11 years ago, Custic, just 24 at the time, tragically died after hitting his head into a concrete wall near the sideline of the pitch following a collision during a game for NK Zadar.

Subasic sought out to never forget his friend, wearing a special shirt under his goalkeeper jersey in every game he's played since the tragedy took place.
