It has emerged that Sky Sports have officially lost the TV rights to La Liga for the next three years.

The rights have instead been secured by a company called Eleven Sports, who are run by Leeds chief and Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani.

Sky have previously had a 20 year association with La Liga, but you won't be able to watch the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi from next season onwards after Eleven Sports outbid the company.

Sky reportedly failed with an offer of less than £18million a year.

Eleven Sports released the following statement after the news emerged:

"We are proud to build on our existing relationship with La Liga, this time in the UK, one of the most passionate football countries in the world where Spanish football has significant appeal,' said Executive Chairman and Group CEO, Mark Watson.

"This is an incredibly exciting time for our young and dynamic company and we will announce soon how we will introduce innovative ways for dedicated fans to watch and engage in the live action.

"The way people, especially young people, watch live sport is changing and we always try to reflect that in the ways we make our product available. We are excited about the opportunities we have to do this in the UK and Ireland."

It is unclear as of yet how Eleven Sports will package La Liga footage, but for users in the United States, a full subscription package costs £157, according to The Mirror.
