He just had to tweet.

It was a historic day for Manchester United fans around the world. On May 15th, 2011, the club finally knocked Liverpool off their perch, lifting their 19th Premier League title at Ewood Park.

Wayne Rooney's goal from the penalty spot clinched that all-important point against Blackburn Rovers.

And being a boyhood Everton fan, the record-breaking striker reveled in the success, taking great delight in posting one of the greatest tweets of all time.

Liverpool have failed to lift the league title since 1990, so Wayne just had to have a massive dig.

"A scouser knocks Liverpool of there perch. Haha. An evertoniian aswell." Rooney tweeted. "Yes. People. U can't imagine how happy I am tonight. Believe."

The former Everton man wasn't done there. "Utd til I die. Everton til I die. Believe. Come together. The beatles. Leg." he tweeted.

A picture of Rooney then emerged online. A picture that shows the extent of his delight. A picture that makes the hair on my chest stand up. Literally.

Rooney has never shied away from basking in Liverpool's downfall and after the game, he once again revealed his delight:

"Winning the Premier League is an incredible feeling and to get that 19th title to become the most successful English club is brilliant.

"Of course for me personally, being an Everton fan, it's even more special 19 times. It's a great feeling for the whole club, the team, the fans, everyone."

Once a blue, always a blue.
