Atlético Madrid's Lucas Hernández Faces Jail Sentence Over Las Vegas Wedding

You did read that headline correctly. Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez could face a one-year jail sentence after breaking a restraining order by marrying his girlfriend in Las Vegas.

In February last year Hernandez and his wife, Amelia Ossa Llorente, were given 31 days community service and a six month mutual restraining order after he was found guilty of domestic abuse.

Despite the restraining order that stated they could not come within 500 metres of one another, the pair decided to ignore the rule and get married in Las Vegas - just four months later.

After the wedding they reportedly travelled to the Bahamas to celebrate their honeymoon, according to Spanish publication AS.

Atletico Madrid - what could have been...

On their return from the Bahamas, the Atletico Madrid defender and his wife were detained at Madrid's Adolfo Suárez-Barajas airport.

Hernandez even spent the night in jail.

Months after the incident, prosecutors are seeking a one-year custodial sentence for the player, while his wife Amelia was released without charge after it emerged that she never received formal notification of the restraining order .

It really does sound like something out of a movie, but it seems Hernandez could face jail time.
