Cristiano Ronaldo's historic overhead kick against Juventus in the Champions League was so bloody good that the home fans felt the need to applaud it.

The Turin support had witnessed one of the all-time great Champions League goals and in a rare moment, the home fans at the Allianz stood and applauded the five-time Balon d'Or winner.

It was a moment that touched Ronaldo and after the game, he spoke affectionately toward the home fans.

"That was one of the nicest moments I've had this evening." he said after the game.

"For people to applaud me at a stadium like that of Juventus, where they've had great players and where they have great players, is a top moment. I'm very happy and excited because this has always been a club that I've liked since I was a little boy.

"For them to applaud you, that stays in your heart."

Three months after he spoke so kindly about Juventus as a club, it looks like Ronaldo is on his way to Turin after reports emerged that he has 'agreed to join' the Italian champions.

An agreement is apparently in place for a four-year contract worth €30 million (£26.5m/$35m) per season. according to a variety of sources.

AS are even reporting that they will unveil the 33-year-old as a Juventus player on Saturday.

Ronaldo's words back in April now look very interesting as the rumours continue to swirl. The fact that he says Juventus are a club he's liked since he was a little boy may suggest a potential move.

He was clearly touched by their appreciation of his overhead kick goal, but can you imagine him playing in Serie A next season?
