He was given the ultimate compliment by Borussia Dortmund's sporting director when he signed for the Bundesliga club last month, and was even given the iconic number seven shirt worn previously by the likes of Shinji Kagawa and Ousmane Dembele.
But despite being 'one of the greatest talents in European football', according to SD Michael Zorc, former Manchester City prodigy Jadon Sancho has been left out of the club's Champions League squad ahead of the new campaign.
Initially, many people thought that Sancho was included in the squad because he was under the age of 21, therefore he doesn't have to be registered, but that rule only applies if he has played at the club's academy.

As BBC journalist Simon Stone pointed out, the U21 rule is only for association trained and homegrown players:
The fee Borussia Dortmund paid for Jadon Sancho is said to be around €9 million with a substantial sell-on clause, but clearly the German club feel that the 17-year-old is not yet ready for the European stage.

Marco Reus has also been left out of the squad because of a serious knee injury suffered in the DFB Cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
