Thiago Silva Invites Les Herbiers’ Captain To Lift Coupe De France Trophy Together

What a special moment.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva earned the respect of world football when he invited Les Herbiers captain Sebastien Flochon up to hoist the Coupe de France trophy together.

In one of the classiest things we've seen in some time, the Brazilian stood on the podium with his teammates, but he clearly had so much admiration for the 25-year-old that he couldn't just lift it by himself.

It was a moment that will go down in history.

The French third division side put up an incredible fight against the riches of Les Parisiens.

To put this game into perspective, Les Herbiers are 13th in the third tier of French football and could be relegated into the fourth tier on Friday evening, but they did themselves proud during Tuesday's Coupe De France final after a miserable season.

The 'David vs Goliath' clash is incredible when you look at the stats. This team plays in the 5,000 capacity Stade Massabielle and only average 1,500 per home game while the riches of PSG continue to spend hundreds of millions every single season.

They may be a small town in western France that has a population of just over 15,000, but they certainly didn't look out of the ordinary against Unai Emery's side.

To further underline the enormous difference in stature, the French minnows have a £1.77million playing budget. That would pay for just over two weeks worth of wages for the world's most expensive footballer, Neymar.

The French cup has a knack for throwing up surprise packages, with Nimes (1996), Amiens (2001) and Quevilly (2012) all three third division sides to have got to the final the cup but ultimately fell at the final hurdle.

Just check out the thousands of fans before kick-off, this evening:

What a night.

And an even greater gesture from Thiago Silva, who may have won the best moment of the season award.
