It was certainly a night to forget for Manchester United Football Club and their millions of supporters around the world.

From start to finish, Jose Mourinho's side struggled to get a foothold of the game.

Perhaps his squad selection was to blame for the defeat as the likes of Marouane Fellaini, who has not played regular first team football in months, struggled for large spells.

Paul Pogba might have felt a little frustrated that he wasn't included in United starting XI, but the French midfielder had the chance to make an impact from the substitutes bench.

He replaced Fellaini in the second half as Jose Mourinho's side looked for that all important lead.

Unfortunately for Pogba, he didn't manage to pull the midfield string as the likes of Ever Banega and Steven N'Zonzi continued to play football around him and Nemanja Matic.

It just didn't click and a moment in the 90th minute summed up Manchester United's underwhelming performance at Old Trafford.

The Reds pushed for an equaliser in the final minutes of the game after Romelu Lukaku netted late on.

Pogba picked up the ball in the middle of the park and tried to release his Belgian teammate, but he found the Nissan advertising board and plenty noticed his error.

As soon as Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder scored that second goal last night, thousands flocked out of Old Trafford as reality began to set in. Manchester United were heading out of the Champions League but one man in particular didn't give up the fight.

Romelu Lukaku once again showed a captain's instinct by motivating his teammates when the stakes were against them, He soon found the net and United had a slim chance of a result - he was the stand out performer in a field of disappointment.

It was a difficult result to inhale for Manchester United fans. Jose Mourinho took the brunt of criticism, but perhaps Lukaku's post-match interview is the best summary yet of the club's damning defeat to a club that lost 5-2 against Atletico Madrid just three weeks ago.

If you haven't seen the below footage yet, then you're in for a surprise. Footballers are often robotic in their answers but Lukaku went in.

He had every right to be angry with his teammates.

Thoughts on Pogba's brief appearance for United last night? Do you agree with Lukaku's comments?
