One day...

Imagine the scene. Steven Gerrard returns to Anfield as the manager of Liverpool Football Club after spending 17 years at the club as a player.

It's an outcome many Liverpool fans would love to see in the coming years, and the man himself has opened up about potentially becoming the big boss one day.

In an interview with France Football, the 38-year-old admitted that Liverpool hold a very special place in his heart:

"Today, I am very happy to be at Rangers and happy to do this job. I want to give the best of myself for Rangers." he said.

"But nobody knows the future... Liverpool is a very special place for me. One day, maybe it will happen... or not."

Having called time on his glittering career in 2016, Gerrard is working towards becoming a world class manager in football, and his first move to Rangers continues to throw its challenges at the former captain.

Gerrard previously managed Liverpool's under 18 side and was hugely successful, but whether he'd be a success in the Premier League is another question.

As mentioned earlier, the majority of Liverpool fans one day dream of Gerrard becoming their manager at some point in the future.

This interview from last year suggests he will be a hit with any club who hires him.

In the above clip, Gerrard gave us all a glimpse of how his managerial head thinks:

He talks about how when he was a young player coming through the ranks, he was obsessed with being the best and would not settle for anything less.

The 38-year-old also stresses to young players that talent will only take them so far, the drive, hunger and desire is the other side of the game.

If any young football wants advice, listening carefully to Gerrard's words - it is a very good place to start.
