Sky Sports Hosted Dream Event To Celebrate Start Of Premier League Season

It was one-of-a-kind event that every fan dreams of.

Sky Sports started the season in style with every football fan's dream event on London's Southbank.

The heatwave has broken, the summer is fading, but honest to God, who cares? The Premier League is back, it's fantastic and it's time to take your seat for the next 10 months. Get comfortable.

The World Cup might only have ended a month ago, but what an awful, football-less month it was: we had to think about transfers and - heaven forbid - actually talk to people.

Now, the Premier League is back and Sky Sports are, as ever, all over it.

They started the season in style with their "Take Your Seat" event on London's South Bank, an extravaganza of everything that we love about the best league in the world.

To celebrate, they brought out some of the big guns - and we're not just talking about Adebayo Akinfenwa's arms here.

Mr Beast Mode himself was there, naturally, pinging balls into Soccer AM's Top Bins Challenge.

The F2 Freestylers were on hand to show their skills and wow the crowd, which including social media superstars Theo Baker, Jemel One Five and Football Daily.

And of course, Kyle Walker was there - not the Manchester City and England defender, but our very own SPORTbible presenter, who hosted the Instagram coverage for the entire event.

Kyle was busy thumping freestyler Daniel Cutting at FIFA 19, courtesy of EA Sport - a full month ahead of its release date - but failed to put Akinfenwa to the sword, losing out the Wycombe Wanderers striker at the Top Bins Challenge.

All of the weekend's live games were shown on a mammoth 8m x 5m HD screen with the attendees watching on from Sky Sports's super-sized Take Your Seat stand, made up of sofas alongside the banks of the Thames.

You probably can't fit that screen in your house, but the next best thing - a Sky Q Ultra HD might do the trick.

And above all, thanks to the Premier League, the big prize was present: the trophy itself was on hand to remind us what all the fuss is about. Fans were able to get a snap with the trophy, before taking their seats to see Man City make the perfect start to defending it.

City turned over Arsenal 2-0, but Liverpool were hot on their heels, thumping West Ham 4-0 at Anfield. Both showed just why they're tipped to star this season and why you'd be foolish to miss a minute of the Premier League 2018/19.

It was the best possible way to see the greatest league in the world return - and we can't wait to #takeourseat next weekend, and every weekend until May.
