Real Madrid have now lost seven games in La Liga this season, their worst record since the infamous 2008/09 campaign.

It has been a tough few months for Santiago Solari and his Los Blancos stars, but after their latest defeat, one player in particular has suffered a huge amount of criticism on social media.

Marcelo was one of the players singled out after his 'lacklustre' performance against Girona at the weekend.

And after a fan page called him out for a string of bad results when he features, the Brazilian decided to respond.

Some players would hide away from such criticism but Marcelo took it on the chin and soaked up the blame. "It's all my fault. We move on!" he said.

Madrid's record when Marcelo starts this season isn't great to say the least.

Four wins, two draws and five losses doesn't exactly help the Brazilian's cause. Do these fans have a point, though?

It certainly looks like it. Sergio Reguilion's record of eight wins, zero draws and zero losses is far superior to the 30-year-old's record this season.

Do you think Los Blancos should drop the under performing left-back?

Here's how social media reacted to his latest performance
