But it still isn't enough for Jose Mourinho...

Luke Shaw has only featured in two Manchester United games this season, but according to reports the 22-year-old is one of the fittest players in the Manchester United squad.

In terms of overall core fitness, Shaw has proven that he is the joint fittest player at the club during tests at Carrington training base, according to The Sun.

The left-back demonstrates great endurance and stamina during the tests, with a 'Carrington insider' revealing the following about Shaw's overall fitness:

"Luke and Antonio are the best when it comes to actual endurance and stamina. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba might be the strongest in terms of their obvious size and physicality, but Luke rates much higher in terms of overall fitness."

We've seen Shaw post a number of pictures and videos of him in the gym on his road to recovery, but we certainly didn't expect him to join club captain Antonio Valencia at the top of the fitness charts.

From the day he suffered a broken leg during Manchester United's Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven in September 2015, Luke Shaw's career at Old Trafford has gone from bad to worse and his fitness has been question in recent months.

But the above findings may just prove that Shaw is fit and healthy, but Mourinho doesn't have faith in his ability.

Luke Shaw's future at Manchester United has been in doubt for some time, and the former Southampton left-back fuelled rumours of a move away from Old Trafford last month.

In Guillem Balague's new book Brave New World: Inside Pochettino's Spurs', the Manchester United defender writes about his relationship with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

He apparently claimed that Pochettino 'really wants me to play under him again'. The 22-year-old even goes on to say that he hopes 'I can play for him one day."
