Because, after all, he is the best midfielder in the world, and his statistics in the World Cup this summer prove that lofty sentiment.

Croatia continued their incredible start to the 2018 World Cup by convincingly beating Argentina 3-0 thanks to goals from Ante Rebic, Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic and Zlatko Dalic's side have continued to impress as they face France in the final on Sunday afternoon.

But can Modric and co. defeat Didier Deschamps' side in arguably their most important fixture in the nations history?

Rebic pounced on a Willy Caballero howler, while Rakitic wrapped up the three points with a goal in the dying stages. However, the goal of the game went to Modric who produced a 'Man of the Match' performance.

He pulled the strings in the middle of the park, while getting on the score-sheet in truly sublime fashion. Stroking home a long-range strike.

His dynamic outing also included 100% take-ons, aerial duels and tackles won. Not to mention 62 touches and completing 42 passes.
