Loris Karius is heading into the new season as Liverpool's back-up, or possibly even third choice, goalkeeper.

It comes after an unfortunate amount of mistakes in recent months, which has lead to many doubting his ability between the sticks.

Despite his doubters though, the majority of Anfield have delivered an incredible amount of support for the German shot-stopper.

During Tuesday night's friendly against Italian side Torino, the Anfield crowd stood and applauded the 25-year-old as he was subbed on for the most expensive goalkeeper in world football, Alisson.

Liverpool managed to record another comfortable win thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Georginio Wijnaldum, but the reception towards Karius, who has suffered a torrid few months, was by far the best moment of the game.

This one might give you goosebumps. What a moment for the German, uploaded by Twitter user Nic Mason.

Alisson is expected to replace Loris Karius in goal for Liverpool's opening Premier League fixture against West Ham United and despite being drafted in to become the clubs new number one, Alisson will reportedly turn down the shirt out of respect to Karius.

The German currently wears the No.1 jersey at Liverpool, but Alisson is set to opt for the No.13 shirt according to Brazilian outlet UOL.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Alisson took part in his first Liverpool training session, and made an instant impression by producing heroics between the sticks.

He pulled off a stunning save to the delight of Liverpool fans.

You've got to applaud the support given to Karius, on Tuesday night. Take a bow.
