We Need To Talk About Lucas Torreira's MOTM Performance Against Spurs

Unbelievable.

He has already been touted 'the signing of the season' by many Arsenal fans.

Lucas Torreira's performance against Spurs in the North London Derby was dogged, tenacious and pitbull-like. It was a joy to behold. Torreira was brought in this summer to change the dynamic of Arsenal's midfield and he's done just that.

The Gunners splashed a reported £26 million on the 22-year-old from Sampdoria, an absolute bargain, even at this stage of the season.

He has picked up three Man of the Match awards in his last four games, and bagged his first Arsenal goal against Spurs.

But it wasn't just his goal against their bitter rivals that caught the eye.

Torreira's passionate celebration as Arsenal made it 4-2 gave Arsenal fans plenty to shout about. He took his shirt off, ran towards the corner and punched the ground in delight.

They've fell in love with this diminutive, box to box midfielder and who can blame them?,

The Uruguayan completed 43 out of 48 passes in the match and gained possession an impressive 12 times throughout, qualities the club have needed for many years.

There was just 165 seconds between Alexandre Lacazette's goal to put Arsenal ahead and Torreira scoring Arsenal's fourth goal - and boy did social media react.

Take it away...

When he signed for Arsenal in the summer, Unai Emery was quick to praise his talent. He was absolutely spot on.

"In Lucas Torreira, we have signed a young player who is a very bright talent in the game" he said.

"A midfielder with great quality, I have enjoyed watching his performances for Sampdoria in the past two seasons, and we all saw him do very well for Uruguay in the World Cup.

"He is a young player already with good experience, but who wants to keep on growing. We welcome Lucas to Arsenal and look forward to him joining us soon for pre-season."

Thoughts on Torreira's performance against Spurs this weekend? Is he one of the best midfielders in the Premier League right now?
