In the build-up to Mayweather vs. McGregor earlier this year, there appeared to be little respect or appreciation between the pair.

Both fighters shared a series of verbal sparring matches that broadcast to millions, before the undefeated boxer defeated 'Notorious' in Las Vegas.

It was certainly an entertaining build up to what turned out to be a relatively easy fight for Floyd Mayweather, but what happened afterwards suggested that the pair actually had a great amount of respect for each other.

Mayweather currently displays two large pictures in his mansion - one of himself and one of his opponent Conor McGregor - a sign that the two fighters shared

As well as the painting, a recent picture from Mayweather's Boxing Club suggests that he took to the bout far more serious than people originally thought.

When visiting the gym, freelance MMA reporter Chamatkar Sandhu took a picture of a Conor McGregor punchbag and shared the image on social media.

"While at the Mayweather Boxing Club this punching bag with Conor McGregor's face was just laying there amongst old, used equipment, most likely waiting to be thrown out." Sandhu said.

Since the fight in Vegas both fighters have been exchanged verbals on a number of occasions, and more recently Mayweather shut down talks of a possible move to the UFC.

In an interview with FightHype, Mayweather claimed that his original statement had been misconstrued, and that 'would' and 'could do' are very different concepts.

"Exactly what I said is this: If I could make over a billion dollars before, I could do it again," he said.

"If I chose to get in the UFC and fight three fights or fight four fights and then fight Conor McGregor, I could make a billion dollars. Which I can. I could do it in three fights or even four fights - I could make a billion dollars. If I choose to get in the Octagon and fight.

"I'm just saying I could. I'm not going to do it. I'm just saying what I could do to make a billion dollars quick, if I wanted to do that. But I never said I was going to fight in the UFC. I didn't say that. If I wanted to, I could do. Would and could do is different things. I'm not going to do it though."

Of course, it didn't exactly take Conor McGregor long to butt in, needing only one word to do so.

Should they fight again? Would you pay to watch another Mayweather vs McGregor classic?
