Ajax, PSV and Feyernoord have taken the unprecedented step of sharing their earnings from the Champions League and Europa League with the rest of the Eredivise, with the intention of improving the overall standard of Dutch football.

Both Ajax and PSV have qualified for this season's Champions League group stages, with the Amsterdam club recently pulling off an admirable 1-1 draw away at Bayern Munich, with the group phase alone said to be worth around Β£20 million to each side.

But now an historic agreement has been put in place which means all of the lucrative earnings won't just end up in the pockets of the biggest clubs.

The country's three biggest clubs have agreed to give 10% of their earnings to the rest of the league, as a way of ensuring Dutch football doesn't fall too far behind the rest of the continent.

The Dutch national side have failed to qualify for the last two international tournaments, with this agreement seen as a way of attempting to halt the decline.

What do you think of the idea? Should clubs in Britain think about doing the same?
