Just hours after it was announced that Spain had sacked incoming Real Madrid manager, Julen Lopetegui, the nation have appointed former Real Madrid and Bolton defender Fernando Hierro ahead of their opening World Cup tie against Portugal.

Celades, who has managed the Under 21 side since 2014, was linked with a move, but Hierro will officially take over.

In a surprise move, Los Blancos announced that Lopetegui would be taking over the reigns at the Santiago Bernabéu, picking up from the recently departed Zinedine Zidane, once he finishes his campaign with the national side in Russia for the World Cup.

But nobody quite expected Spain to sack the 51-year-old just 24 hours before the World Cup kicks off.

It's thought that Rubiales felt 'betrayed', having only discovered the Lopetegui would become manager of Los Blancos five minutes before it was made public.

Spain were one of the big favourites for this summer's tournament, but will a change of manager upset the camp?

It'll certainly be interesting to see how they get on this Friday.
