Liverpool fans won't forget Wednesday night's historic Champions League win against Manchester City in a hurry, even if top scorer and all-round magician Mo Salah was brought off injured.

It was a dream start for Jurgen Klopp's side. Salah bagged his 38th goal of the season after 12 minutes, then Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane made it 3-0 after just 31 minutes.

Nobody could believe what was happening, but even after the game had finished, people were talking about the incident involving Manchester City's team bus, rather than the final result.

Liverpool were forced to apologise after damage was inflicted on the vehicle as they headed towards Anfield.

Footage soon emerged of Liverpool fans throwing bottles at the vehicle, with details later emerging that the bus was rendered undriveable and a replacement was sent.

Manchester City coach Manel Estiarte uploaded the following footage on Instagram, as the vehicle was surrounded by smokebombs and flares.

Whether or not this incident played a part in City's 3-0 defeat is up for debate, but Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino admits that he was inspired by the scenes before kick-off - so much so that he cried.

"When we were on the bus, I was reading about how the reception was going to be." Firmino told ESPN Brazil.

"I must say, it filled my eyes full of tears! It was very moving for me. It only gives us more strength to fight on the field and win the games."

Firmino went on to praise their performance against Pep Guardiola's side,

"I think we played really well. We had a great game, we scored and kept the clean sheet, which is important. But as I said, we haven't won the tie yet, we have to keep focused."

Can Liverpool progress to the Champions League semi-finals? Or will City produce a remarkable comeback?
