On-loan Bayern Munich midfielder James Rodriguez netted against Real Madrid, and produced a moment which went down very well with the Santiago Bernabeu faithfuls.

The Colombian international was shipped out on a two-year loan to the German champions in the summer, with the club having an option to make the deal permanent for just £37 million.

And on Tuesday night, he returned to his parent club in the Champions League semi-final second leg. He not only played in both legs but also scored in the return fixture.

James scored in the second half to make it 2-2 on the night, with his side needing one more goal to advance to the final.

However, despite applying pressure and committing bodies forward, Bayern Munich failed to get another goal.

But the visitors were camped inside their opponents half for the latter part of the game, and had chances. So you can imagine it was a relief for Real Madrid when James kicked the ball out of play with minutes remaining.

Marco Asensio made a surging run, attempting to get at Bayern's defence. Yet he was stopped in his tracks after pulling up with cramp.

Bayern players continued to play out from the back, with James eventually getting a hold of the ball. He subsequently kicked the ball out of touch for Asensio to receive treatment.

Garnering a nice round of applause from the home crowd.

James was then subbed off for Javi Martinez.

While Real Madrid fans loved what James did, his actions didn't go down well on social media.
