The French club are rubbing salt in the wound

Ever get the impression that losing 6-1 in the second leg of the Champions League second round against Barcelona really fucked Paris Saint-Germain up on a lot of levels?

The French giants, who had led Barca 4-0 from the first leg of the tie, somehow threw away their advantage as a Neymar inspired Blaugrana scored three goals in the last seven mintues of the second leg to complete the most dramatic comeback in Champions League history.

Fast forward four months and, having also lost the Ligue Un title to Monaco, the club from the French capital have decided to hand over a world record breaking 222 million euros for Neymar's signature, outraging Barcelona and securing the services of the player who not only dismantled them in the Champions League, but was also being groomed to be the heir to Lionel Messi's throne at the Camp Nou.

With La Liga remonstrating with UEFA over PSG's approach to the transfer and questions being asked over Financial Fair Play regulations, the Paris club have ploughed straight ahead with securing the Brazilian's signature after Barcelona received Neymar's release clause in full, this afternoon, promptly terminating the former Santos forward's contract as a result.

And, just to rub salt into the wound, ahead of the official announcement of Neymar's arrival at the Parc des Princes, PSG posted a tweet to their followers featuring none other than Barcelona's top target, Marco Verratti.

The irony of the club's choice of player to feature in the accompanying picture was not lost on PSG's followers and Barca fans alike.

What Verratti's future holds remains to be seen, but it's clear that the relationship between Barcelona and PSG has been pushed well past breaking point, this summer.
