It has emerged that Paul Pogba paid tribute to his late father with a touching tribute while posing with the World Cup trophy on Sunday evening.

Shortly after France beat Croatia in a 4-2 classic at the Luzhniki Stadium, pictures show that Pogba held a shinpad in front of the trophy which had a picture of his father printed on them.

Back in May last year, Paul Pogba's father, Fassou Antoine Pogba, passed away at the age of 79.

The shinpad also had a message inscribed on the back, saying: "Oh Lord, do not chastise me for what they say. Forgive me for what they do not know and make me better than what they think of me."

Pogba has certainly silenced his doubters, this summer.

Not only did he bag a pivotal goal in the World Cup final, of all occasions, but he ran the show throughout the competition alongside N'Golo Kante, as he added to his already impressive CV with this incredibly talented France outfit.

Some might forget but at the age of 25, the Manchester United midfielder has reached a Champions League, Europa League, European Championship and World Cup final in his short but successful career in the game.

To silence his critics, Pogba pointed towards the crowd and cupped his ear - a message to those who doubt him time and time again. Take a bow.

Respect.
