Manchester City have returned to the top of the Premier League after beating cross-town rivals Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford.

City move one point clear of Liverpool with just three league games left of the 2018/19 season.

After a goalless first-half, Bernando Silva broke the deadlock with a tidy finish in the 54th minute.

Second-half substitute Leroy Sane doubled City's lead in the 66th minute.

The German winger fired home a low strike with David De Gea committing yet another mistake between the sticks.

Manchester City have three remaining league fixtures in Burnley (away), Leicester City (home) and Brighton (away).

Liverpool, meanwhile, resume their league campaign against already relegated Huddersfield on Friday. They also play Newcastle and Wolves.

The race for the title is hotting up.
