Manchester United have confirmed that the 'Baby Faced Assassin' and all-round nice guy, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, will take over Jose Mourinho's role as caretaker manager of the club.

Solskjaer played under the often ruthless and relenting management style of Sir Alex Ferguson during his 11 year stint at Old Trafford, but how will he fair as United boss in the coming months?

The Norwegian will be more than fine, according to some of his former teammates.

Solskjaer retired at the end of the 2007/08 season, but Ferguson allowed him to coach the club's forwards when he was doing his coaching badges.

And after one of the training session. Norwegian publication TV2 wanted to know how Solskjaer was performing as coach. Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand soon gave their analysis and it's very telling.

"He's very good. I look for Ole like a man, not just coach now. He's a fantastic guy and I have a great relationship with him." Ronaldo said.

While Ferdinand was also complimentary, saying:

'I'm sure he'll go on to become a top coach as well because he has great ideas about the game and he's working very hard at Carrington."

Wayne Rooney also spoke highly of the former Manchester United forward, who spent 11 years at Old Trafford, scoring 126 goals in 366 appearances.

"I'm sure he will one day become a manager and become a good one." said the former England international.

It looks like Solskjaer won't take any nonsense based on previous interviews, but in a chat with Gazzetta dello Sport earlier this year, he revealed that a certain Cristiano Ronaldo was the one player who got away with something.

"He [Ronaldo] was the only one who Sir Alex said: 'OK, only worry about attacking, do not think about defending.'

"Neither Giggs nor Beckham nor Cantona were ever told this."

Thoughts on the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer? Can be a success during his short stint at the club?
