Lorenzo Insigne literally sat on a cooler as Italy bust a nut to find a winner against Sweden.
Is it just me or should Gian Piero Ventura have given one of the most lethal forwards in world football a chance to find the net from the substitutes bench?
To the dismay of millions, Italy just couldn't find a breakthrough in their qualifier on Monday night and have therefore failed in their attempts to reach the World Cup, with one of the biggest questions raised is the fact that Insigne wasn't given enough minutes.
Even legendary midfielder Daniele De Rossi was furious at the decision to leave Insigne on the bench.
When asked to warm up, a frustrated De Rossi said: "Why the hell should I go on? We don't need to draw here, we need to win!"
As you can see in the footage below, the Roma midfielder then pointed towards Insigne, indicating that the manager bring on Insigne instead of himself. Brilliant:
Italy lost the first leg of their qualifier back on November 10 after Jakob Johansson found the net from 20 yards at the Friends Arena, but despite Italy manager Giampiero Ventura saying that his side needed a 'great performance' in the second leg of their play-off, it never quite happened at the San Siro.
Here's how Twitter reacted to De Rossi's actions during the game:
Incredible passion and selflessness from De Rossi, but his words couldn't inspire Italy to a famous win at the San Siro.
It just won't be the same without the Italians, will it?
