After all of the protests, results and speculation, Arsène Wenger has agreed a two-year deal to remain Arsenal manager.

A formal announcement is expected to be released tomorrow, but Arsene Wenger verbally agreed a new contract with Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke in a meeting yesterday.

After finishing fifth in the Premier League this season, many supporters called for Wenger, who has stood at the helm for 21 years, to be sacked.

But the FA Cup final win against Chelsea last weekend could have swayed opinion among the board and supporters.

Arsenal 'fan' Piers Morgan expressed his thoughts on Arsenal's decision to offer Wenger a new contract:

Another factor in Arsenal's final decision may have been down to first team players.

Back in October, a number of key stars would have left the club if Wenger didn't sign an extension and remain at the club, according to Goal.

Mesut Ozil was one of the top players who would have been 'likely to move on' if Wenger left.
