Jose Mourinho hasn't forgotten the reaction he received when Marcus Rashford was substituted for match-winner Anthony Martial on Sunday afternoon.

A section of United fans booed Mourinho's decision to bring off Rashford against Tottenham, but when substitute Martial eventually scored the winner, Mourinho proceeded to make a 'shush' gesture toward the TV cameras.

Ahead of his side's Champions League clash against Benfica this evening, Mourinho has brought up that reaction in his programme notes - a decision that has sparked plenty of reaction on social media.

In the final paragraph of his programme notes in the United Review, Mourinho said: "To play like that and get three points, I was really happy with them and, obviously, the result.

"Those are the levels of professionalism and commitment that I always want to see in every game we play.

"I hope tonight we can do just as good a job, take another big step towards the knockout stages of the Champions League and I hope that you enjoy the game more than some of you did against Tottenham."

It seems Mourinho was offended by the jeers during the important clash at Old Trafford. Here's how social media reacted to the apparent dig in his Benfica programme notes:
