Jose Mourinho Is Now Favourite To Be The First Manager Sacked

How times have changed.

When he first arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2004, the arrogant but charming character of Jose Mourinho arrived on the scene with an almighty bang.

In that very season, he would lead the club to their first league title in 50 years, achieving the most points in a season in Premier League history.

14 years later and now in charge of Manchester United, many are beginning to doubt Mourinho's reign in charge at Old Trafford after an average pre-season and a lack of transfer activity.

In fact, bookies have made him favourite to be the first Premier League manager to be sacked at 5/1, with Sky Bet placing the likes of Leicester City manager Claude Puel and Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock below the 55-year-old.

Here are the current odds via Sky Bet - It doesn't look good for Jose.

As mentioned earlier, Manchester United fans have raised questions over Jose Mourinho's transfer activity of late, with a distinct lack of marquee signings being the main cause of concern.

Don't get me wrong the club have brought in some useful players in Fred, Diogo Dalot and goalkeeper Lee Grant but those transfers have failed to satisfy the appetite of many.

Manchester United's vice-chairman Ed Woodward has also been unusually quiet, but a recent report may just shine some light on the current situation at Old Trafford.

The Independent report that as both men planned for the transfer window, Woodward proposed a big name signing, with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Gareth Bale all mentioned.

Jose Mourinho, however, turned that idea down, because 'he had such a clear vision for how his team should be.'

The Manchester United boss wants to sign hard-working wide players like Chelsea's Willian instead, as well as experienced centre-backs, with Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire being main targets.

If he manages to pull the above off, he could certainly win back the confidence of fans.
