While the diminutive Frenchman was on the losing side, he produced a starring role for Chelsea in the middle of the park.

Kante was not only tackling and recovering balls - which included 13 balls recovery, 12 duels won and eight tackles, but also creating attacks, forging an impressive 96% pass completion.
Not to mention three successful dribbles and one key pass.
Messi wasn't the only outstanding individual on the pitch last night as Kante cemented himself as one of, if not the, best defensive midfielder on the planet.
