Gary Lineker has apologised to James Milner for doubting the Liverpool midfielder.

The Match of the Day and BT Sport presenter watched on like the rest of us as the Reds beat Tottenham 2-1 at Wembley this afternoon.

There were several impressive performances from Jurgen Klopp's side, most notably Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk.

But Milner was arguably the best, dominating with another fine midfield performance - adding to what has been a brilliant start to the season.

Lineker was obviously impressed and took to Twitter to apologise to Milner for once doubting the former England international:

You can't disagree with Lineker's assessment of Milner either - he's really stepped his game up a level under Klopp.

He's been so good that he's contributing to Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson remaining on the bench at the start of this season.

Henderson was a mainstay in the team last term, but can't seem to dislodge Milner, 'Gini' Wijnaldum or Naby Keita from the starting XI at the moment.
