Benjamin Mendy didn't play last night but he was in the thick of the action.

He was involved in a hilarious moment at full-time.

When match referee Anthony Taylor blew the final whistle, Mendy raced onto the pitch to celebrate with his teammates but he was flanked by not one but TWO stewards who thought he was a pitch invader.

The pair of stewards chased him until they realised the lad in the luminous orange coat was actually Mendy.

The Frenchman brilliantly took to social media after the amusing incident, and posted a picture of him kissing Sergio Aguero, who bagged City's first goal of the night.

He also reacted to the video, saying: "bro was about to tackle me."

City close the gap on Liverpool to four points ahead of turning their attention to the FA Cup.

Pep Guardiola's charges take on Wolves after the cup fixtures whilst Liverpool face Brighton.

The race for the Premier League title is hotting up.
