It has been a turbulent month for Arsenal fans, but after weeks of speculation surrounding his future, Arsene Wenger has officially signed a two year extension at the club.

Despite failing to achieve Champions League football, the club have shown continued faith in the Frenchman.

In a statement released by Arsenal this afternoon, majority owner Stan Kroenke said: "Our ambition is to win the Premier League and other major trophies in Europe.

"It's what the fans, players, staff, manager and board expect and we won't rest until that is achieved. Arsène is the best person to help us make that happen. He has a fantastic track record and has our full backing."

Minutes after Arsenal announced the news via their official website, the club's 'biggest fan' expressed his opinion on Wenger's new deal.

Piers Morgan is known to tweet regularly about Wenger and his lack of success, but the Good Morning Britain presenter has now declared that he will 'never tweet about Wenger again' after the news emerged.

I wonder how long this will last?

Morgan has been very vocal about Wenger's future at Arsenal, this week.

He believes Arsenal will 'keep failing' in any competition that matters, and the new deal will make him a 'laughing stock':
