You've been pronouncing Fred's seemingly simple name completely wrong this entire time.
That's right. Manchester United's summer signing gave us the right pronunciation in a clip on Manchester United's Twitter account this morning and it left plenty baffled. How can four words be so difficult to say?
The Brazilian doesn't bother pronouncing the 'D' sound at the end of his name, rather a 'J' or 'H' sound. Just check it out below:
In all fairness, South American football expert Tim Vickery said in his Radio Times column that English-speaking folk have been pronouncing many South American names incorrectly for years.

Examples include Chelsea's Willian, Real Madrid's Marcelo, and obviously United's newest signing, who has a name that's actually pronounced 'FRAY-zhee'.
Hats off to those who knew that one, though it's likely no one did, unless you're Brazilian.

It was suggested that this could all be elaborate plan forged by Vickery to make the Man United staff and players who greet Fred at Old Trafford look like fools, but it turned out to be true.
Best not sounding like a pretentious idiot saying 'FRAY-zhee' in front of your mates when the player is in discussion.
Will you be saying FRAY-zhee from now on?
