Arsenal fan and BRIT award host Jack Whitehall couldn't resist a cheeky dig at Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge on Wednesday night.

Sturridge, who has struggled with injuries in recent months, was presenting the Best Male award with Paloma Faith.

But before he could step foot on the stage, Whiteball mocked the former Manchester City striker in sublime fashion.

He firstly introduced Sturridge as a "Premier League runner-up in waiting" before hitting him with another classic line.

Whitehall later spotted Sturridge's handhake with winner George Ezra and said:

"I don't want to alarm any Liverpool fans but it looks like Daniel Sturridge picked up a knock shaking George Ezra's hand. Might be out for a couple of months."

Liverpool are currently level on points with rivals Manchester City and have looked shaky in recent weeks, so the comedian just had to take a swipe, didn't he.

Here's some of the reaction from social media:

Stick to playing football, Daniel, that wasn't your finest hour.
