Shock.

Did anybody else spot the cheeky 'G.O.A.T' message in Cristiano Ronaldo's latest Instagram post promoting some of his favourite Nike trainers? Yeah, me too.

You can just imagine the Juventus forward chilling in his livingroom, wearing the t-shirt as he watches his own individual highlights with the family.

Lionel Messi might have something to say about the following post, however, after Paper Magazine decided to make the five-time Balon d'Or winner June's official cover star in arguably the greatest photoshoot in the history of photoshoots.

But who is the real G.O.A.T?

Clearly the 33-year-old thinks he own the title, judging by the cheeky message in this post.

The debate as to whether Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo is the true G.O.A.T will never be resolved among fans, but the Argentinian's brilliant photoshoot last month certainly added fuel to the fire.

Thanks to the marvelous photography of Carles Carabí, many enjoyed seeing two actual GOATS colliding, but then again

But Messi's club Barcelona responded to Ronaldo's claims last year that he is the greatest of all-time.

Shortly after the Real Madrid forward won his fifth Ballon d'Or win, he was adamant no-one comes close to him in the beautiful game during an interview with France Football.

"I don't see anyone better than me," Ronaldo said.

"No player does things I cannot do myself but I see things others can't do. There's no more complete player than me. I'm the best player in history - in the good and the bad moments."

Unsurprisingly though, those at Barcelona do not take the view that the Ronaldo is the best ever.

"Respect to the Ballon d'Or and to Cristiano Ronaldo," Barcelona spokesman Josep Vives said at a press conference.

"We have always considered him a great player and a great competitor. But here at the Camp Nou, we can see the best player in history every 15 days, which is Messi."

You simply cannot get away from the endless comparisons between the two - and any conversation that involves talking about one of them, almost always sees the other getting a mention.
