He might be a Manchester City player, but Twitter king and all round banter merchant Benjamin Mendy couldn't help but tweet about Bristol City's incredible GIF game.

Shortly after Bobby Reid netted from the penalty spot against Pep Guardiola's side, the injured Mendy took to Twitter to express 'the only good thing about the goal'.

Bristol City produced this outstanding GIF of Reid using a fire extinguisher:

Minutes later, Mendy tweeted his appreciation of the tweet, but said: "Only good thing with this goal : new GIF from @bcfctweets now let's go boys!!!"

You don't see this happen very often...

Bristol manager Lee Johnson didn't let his side sit back and allow City to dominate play, like many other Premier League sides in recent weeks.

Pep Guardiola's side did however equalise early on in the second half thanks to captain Kevin de Bruyne, and eventually won the game with a Sergio Aguero header in the 90th minute.

But the Championship side certainly held their own throughout as just under a record 8,000 fans cheered them on.

On another note, many on social media noticed the sheer amount of empty seats at the Etihad on Tuesday evening.

Ahead of the fixture, a rumour circulated on Twitter that City had offered schools hundreds of free tickets to fill up the stadium, but plenty of empty seats were still visible.

On the other hand, Bristol City almost brought an impressive 8,000 fans to the Etihad.
