Jesse Lingard missed an amazing opportunity to score an equaliser for Manchester United against Manchester City at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old United player found the ball coming directly to him at the far post, only for him to completely miss it.

In fact, many social media users believe that the England international missed the shot on purpose, mainly for how important a United win -- or draw -- would be for Liverpool.

City took the lead through a Bernardo Silva opener in the second half before Leroy Sané doubled their advantage after a mistake from David de Gea.

Speaking of the United shot-stopper, fans also believe that he 'purposely' conceded to 'sabotage' Liverpool's chances to win the Premier League title.
