Steven Gerrard Roasts His Own Players In Remarkable Post-Match Interview After 4-3 Defeat

Well that escalated quickly...

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard compared his side's defending to an Under-12s or 13s team following their disappointing 4-3 defeat in Russia tonight.

The Gers crashed to their first European defeat in twelve matches under Gerrard after leading three times in their Europa League tie with Spartak Moscow.

Not even a brilliant finish from Daniel Candeias could secure a point - a devastating blow.

After the full-time whistle, Gerrard was obviously livid with how his players represented themselves in the match, and whilst he remained calm and articulate, he didn't hold back when giving his thoughts on the frustrating 90 minutes.

"Under-12's, under-13's normally can clear the ball with either foot, I'm a bit confused, especially with the lads that were picked." has to be the best quote of the week.

Take it away, Stevie:

Rangers now host Motherwell and Livingston in the Premiership before welcoming Villarreal to Ibrox on November 29 for what now looks like a make-or-break fixture.

What do you think of Gerrard's comments, and did Rangers really defend that poorly?

And will they still make it into the competition's knockout phase?
