This 'Inventive' Second Wall Free-Kick Routine Went Horribly Wrong

Try something new they said...

In years gone by, we've come across some genius routines when it comes to set-pieces.

Japanese High School revolutionised the set-piece with a routine like no other last year. Linked arm in arm, the three-player-wall slowly edge away from the ball, backing into the opposition defence. It was a joy to behold.

Basically, It involved a second wall lining up in front of the opposition defence and a masterstroke of ducking in chorus. No, really.

On the other end of the spectrum, a Sunday League side have tried something similar and unfortunately, the guy in question might wake up this morning with a massive ball print etched across his face.

Two players in green stood in front of the wall to try and confuse the opposition but seconds later, it ended in disaster. Priceless.

Check out the footage below:

Let's try and forget that ever happened and remember the time Leeds United pulled off a great set-piece at the end of last year.

Pablo Hernandez, formerly of Swansea City, levelled the game in the 61st minute against Burton Albion.

In a routine straight off the training ground, the visitors had several players right in front of Stephen Bywater, blocking his view and frustrating him to the point he pulled down Eunan O'Kane's shorts and received a booking.

The players who stood offside then darted so that they were behind the wall while Hernandez curled a beauty into the corner.

You've got to love a creative set-piece, especially when it goes wrong.
