Eden Hazard has failed to make the PFA 'Team of the Year' despite being on the six-man shortlist for the PFA 'Players' Player of the Year' and Chelsea have responded.

Hazard has been superb for Chelsea this season. He's chipped in with an impressive 16 goals and 13 assists. That's a combined 29 direct goal involvements.

The most by any player in the Premier League.

What's more, he's received the most 'Man of the Match' awards yet surprisingly he hasn't been included in the TOTY.

Chelsea have since responded by taking to social media.

"Our no.10 is enjoying an outstanding season full of eye-catching moments and his non-selection is being widely described as a surprise omission. Certainly his headline statistics from the current season cannot have counted against him when the votes were cast," the club statement read.

The PFA opted for Sergio Aguero, Sadio Mane and Raheem Sterling up front with Manchester United's Paul Pogba the surprise name in this season's 'Team of the Year'.

Hazard is likely to miss out on the PFA 'Player of the Year', too. Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk is set to be crowned the 'Player of the Year'.

Hazard, meanwhile, is expected to call time on his Chelsea career at the end of the season. Reports claim he'll leave Stamford Bridge in the summer with Real Madrid set to sign the Belgium ace in a mega transfer.

Zinedine Zidane has spoken of his admiration for Hazard amid reports linking him with a move to the Spanish capital.

"He's a player I have always appreciated," the Real Madrid manager said about Hazard. "He is fantastic. I will not give my personal opinion about what may happen because the season has not ended. He has played in France, I have watched him a lot and I know him personally."
