During Bognor Regis' 2-0 defeat to Truro in the Vanarama National League this weekend, goalkeeper Dan Lincoln was rushed to hospital after trying to prevent the winning goal.

Lincoln was carefully lifted on to a spinal board and taken to hospital by an ambulance after the game was suspended while club medics attended Lincoln's nasty injury.

Hours later the former Reading goalkeeper confirmed that there was no serious damage caused, but took a cheeky dig at officials for their 'protection'.

You can clearly see the shocking stud marks on his back.

"Just being released from Hospital now. Feeling a little worse for wear, but thankfully no serious or long lasting damage." he said on Twitter.

"Just a few fresh battle wounds. Nothing like a bit of protection from the officials."

Lincoln then posted another update on his Twitter, showing great courage by suggesting that he will be back for Saturday's game.

"It's gunna be a tough old week recovering to get back in Yellow for Saturday, but I'm always up for a challenge." he said.

"I'd like to thank everyone involved in looking after me and attending to me ON and OFF the pitch. Was a real touch of class to see Jack Pearce at the Hospital for me."

All the best in your recovery, Dan.
